hope you have had an amazing holidays, since we have come back to school we have started athletics and that means we have to do shot put, discus, long jump and high jump, for me personally I only like long jump and high jump, so I tend to try harder at those sports, for some reason I am actually kinda good at it.

We have been learning about how to convert 24 hour time and how to convert am/pm and today in maths we had to write three movies down, when they start, how long they go for in minutes, ask when the movies will end and got someone in our math group to try and figure it out:)

Beautiful Binary/Ascii

Hey Bloggers!

Today we are learning about Binary and ASCII. 

Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers.  You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself!  Try watching this video to give it a go yourself!

ASCII is set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard).  I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code!  Using colours to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!

My Lit Mash Up

For literacy we had to read a book, then write the key parts down so we can put them in a website my book was call of the wild retold by Pauline Francis,I got a different book from my group, because I don't have internet at my house,and they started the book during our online schooling.

In Maths we had to make shapes with blocks then draw it on isometric dot paper,we started with five blocks and had to do three different shapes each time we added another five and I got up to 20.

Amazing Samoan Numbers

We are learning Samoan every Wednesday and over the last two weeks we have been learning how to count to ten.  I found this quite easy as it is very similar to counting to 10 in Maori.  Today we used Scratch to code a programme that would show people how to count to ten in Samoan.  Check it out!  Can you count to 10 in any other language?
